Following two nights immersed in Beppu’s geothermal energy, the final day calls for a deliberate contrast and a calm closure to our expansive Kyushu journey. Our destination is the quiet coastal town of Bungotakada, a choice made specifically to minimize driving and maximize easy exploration. We favor its manageable scale and seaside setting over the larger scope of Oita or the mountainous retreat of Yufuin. This promises a tranquil final chapter—a day of gentle walking and discovering entirely new sights and histories, far removed from the steam and spectacular geothermal drama.
